FRP sheets—also known as GRP or GFRP ( fiberglass reinforced plastic) sheets—are a lightweight thermosetting composite material made by laminating a mixture of synthetic resin and glass fiber. 01. Basic Structure of FRP Sheets
- Gelcoat (Optional)
The high-quality gel-coat improves the UV resistance and color durability of the material, and at the same time increases the gloss of the panel surface, so that the surface will not have problems such as pores, cracks, scratches, etc., resulting in a very beautiful and eye-catching appearance. Gelcoats are also more resistant to corrosion and can be cleaned.
- Fiberglass
Fiberglass is a man-made inorganic non-metallic fiber material produced from inorganic ores through high-temperature melting and fiber drawing. Characterized by its light weight, high strength, resistance to extreme temperatures and corrosion, as well as thermal insulation, flame retardancy, sound absorption, and electrical insulation properties, it is currently a widely used inorganic fiber reinforcement material.
- Resin
FRP uses high-quality thermosetting resin, which has excellent adhesion, no bubbles, and is not easy to crack.
02. Fiberglass Types
TOPOLO offers FRP sheets featuring two types of fiberglass: chopped strand mat and woven roving.
- Chopped glass fiber strands are randomly arranged and evenly distributed, making them easy to impregnate with resin; FRP sheets of this type typically exhibit superior surface smoothness.
- The fiberglass yarns are interwoven at 90-degree angles, which enhances the ultimate tensile and flexural strengths of the FRP layer; however, due to this unique weave structure, the weave pattern often telegraphs onto the FRP surface.

Application of FRP Sheets
