GRP Honeycomb Panels Manufacturer

GRP honeycomb panel is a PP honeycomb core composite panel bonded with glue, and its skin material is made of fiberglass reinforced plastic with thermosetting resin. It can withstand high strength and maintain dimensionally stable structural dimensions. TOPOLO customizes various specifications of GRP honeycomb panels for customers around the world.

Advantages of GRP Skin Material

Thermosetting resin-based GRP (FRP) sheet has many advantages, such as higher hardness, smooth surface, waterproofing, heat insulation, and corrosion resistance. It is a material with better weather resistance and is used as the skin material of honeycomb panels. It can adapt to all kinds of outdoor weather such as rain, exposure, rain, snow, sand and dust, especially in marine climates with high salt content.

Structure of GRP Honeycomb Panel

  • GRP Layer: Usually the surface of GRP is covered with a gel coat layer to make the surface smoother and easier to clean. The GRP surface can also be embossed into different texture patterns.
  • Reinforcement Layer (Optional): The reinforcement layer uses high-temperature resistant fiberglass felt plastic. It serves as an isolation layer between the GRP material and the PP honeycomb core, which can bond them more closely and enhance the strength of the honeycomb panel.
  • Polypropylene Honeycomb Core: Polypropylene honeycomb core can choose different hole diameters and thicknesses. Honeycomb cores of different densities provide different performance: such as compressive strength, bending strength, etc.

GRP Honeycomb Panel VS Thermoplastic Honeycomb Panel

TOPOLO supplies two different types of PP honeycomb sandwich panels: thermoplastic honeycomb panels and FRP honeycomb panels. They use different manufacturing methods and therefore perform differently.

  • GRP Honeycomb Panel

FRP and PP honeycomb core are bonded with glue. Due to the high strength of FRP, this type of honeycomb panel has smaller deformation and stable structural performance.

  • Thermoplastic Honeycomb Panel

It uses a new type of FRP material – CFRT as the skin material. CFRT is a continuous glass fiber reinforced sheet, which provides better bending strength and rigidity. Different from FRP honeycomb panels, thermoplastic honeycomb panels use a thermal lamination manufacturing method to combine CFRT and PP honeycomb cores. Honeycomb panels with this performance have better impact resistance.

Our Processing Capabilities

TOPOLO can not only manufacture super-sized honeycomb panels (up to 12m long, the length is limited by the current maximum size of shipping containers). These large panels are also processed into components of various shapes and sizes.

Applications

GRP honeycomb panels are widely used in many different fields, such as

Vehicle Manufacturing
  • GRP honeycomb panels are also used in automobile, train and aircraft manufacturing to manufacture floors, shells, ceilings and other structural components.
Shipbuilding
  • In shipbuilding, GRP honeycomb panels are often used to manufacture hull and cabin structures. Their lightweight nature helps improve a vessel’s fuel efficiency, and their corrosion resistance makes them suitable for use in saltwater environments.
Buildings
  • It can be used as covering material for building exteriors, roofs and walls.
Solar Energy
  • In the renewable energy industry, it can be used to manufacture housings for solar photovoltaic panels to provide lightweight and durable solutions.
Billboards
  • It can be used to manufacture various outdoor advertising display panels as they can be easily printed and customized.
Sports products
  • It is also used in various sports and entertainment related products, such as table tennis table tops, pickleball rackets, skateboards, basketball boards, etc.
